Our Year 2 class is a happy and enthusiastic group of learners who are developing confidence, independence, and a love of learning as they build on their early skills.

Year 2 pupils participate in a variety of outdoor activities that extend their learning beyond the classroom, encouraging problem-solving, collaboration, and the development of resilience and physical skills in a stimulating environment.

It is the school’s expectation that pupils are supported with their reading at home. Please support your child by reading together for at least 10 - 15 minutes each day and discussing what they have read.

Here are some activities for you to try at home:

Animals 🐾	Folk Tales 📖	Travel 🚂
Animal Fact Hunt Choose your favourite animal. Draw a picture and write 3 facts about it.	Story Character Draw a character from a folk tale and write a sentence about them.	Dream Journey Draw a picture of a place you would like to visit and explain why.
Animal Habitat Make a model or picture showing where an animal lives. Label its home.	Retell a Tale Tell a Welsh folk tale or favourite story to someone at home and draw your favourite part.	Transport Survey Count how many cars, buses, bikes or other vehicles you see on a journey. Create a simple chart.
Animal Mask Create an animal mask using paper, card or recycled materials.	Create a New Ending Think of a different ending for a folk tale. Draw or write what happens.	Well-Being Challenge 😊 Go for a walk with a family member. Look for animals, plants or interesting landmarks. Draw and label three things you saw.
⭐ Bonus Challenge Make a project that links all three themes: An animal travelling through a folk tale adventure! Draw, paint, write a story or create a model Success Criteria ✅ Try your best. ✅ Be creative. ✅ Present your work neatly. ✅ Have fun while learning! 🌟
